This was my second year of experiencing Record Store Day at Looney Tunes CDs in West Babylon. I have been a customer of the store since High School (before many of you were born, when it was still a single store front and Karl Sr. ran it!).

Saturday April 3rd I attended Will Forthman’s 21st Birthday show at Sinclair’s in West Babylon. Will Forthman is one of the co-founders of the indie label/promotion company Dinosaurs’ In Vietnam. The first performer of the night was Tom Moran. Moran is usually known for playing bass and singing in the band Exemption. Tonight he was performing songs from his solo albums.

Now as most of you have heard our big 10 Year Anniversary Party was cancelled last month due to the Town of Oysterbay shutting down local music venue Mr. Beery’s. Armed with a squad of inspectors and citing numerous safety violations town officials made a dramatic gesture in proving their power. However in their zeal to demonstrate that power one of the inspectors made the mistake of overstepping his authority and proclaimed that the venue would NEVER have live music EVER again. It might as well be the shot heard around the world.
